'He keeps fighting for every point'

Thiemo knows what to expect when he meets Roberto Bautista-Agut at the Mutua Madrid Open on Saturday. “He is a typical Spaniard who keeps fighting for every point. I know him pretty good. He plays more flat than most Spaniards”, according to the 22-year old Dutchman. They have met a few times before.

The Dutchman has good memories on his 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Bautista-Agut during a Future in the Netherlands in 2008. “In Alkmaar I was one set and 4-1 down in the second, but managed to win the match. I also have played doubles against him with Raemon (Sluiter, red.). I don’t know how he has been doing the past years, we will see.” Thiemo and Bautista-Agut are scheduled as the fourth match on court 5.
