Thiemo meets Anderson in first round
A tough draw for Thiemo at the Estoril Open. He meets South African Kevin Anderson in the first round. It is their first ever meeting on ATP level. This match can be recognized as a preview for the upcoming Davis Cup tie between South Africa and Netherlands (8-10 July).
“It is going to be a difficult, but we’ll see. I am ready for it”, according to a self-confident Thiemo. The winner will meet Rui Machado (POR) or Victor Hanescu (ROU) in the second round.
Anderson - the current world number 35 - started his season with a title in front of his home crowd in Johannesburg in February. He has also recorded a semifinal and quarterfinal spot in Brisbane (AUS) and Miami (USA) respectively in 2011.
