Defeat with perspective for Thiemo

Thiemo has lost the opening round of the Bath challenger on Wednesday. Jan Mertl of the Czech Republic defeated the Dutchman 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(5). “I started very bad, but my game became better and better.”

“I am disappointed about the loss. I could have won this match”, told Thiemo, who played his first tournament since half February. Next up is the Davis Cup tie between the Netherlands and Romania on 6, 7 and 8 April in Amsterdam. Captain Jan Siemerink announces his squad on Monday, 26 March.
