Defeat with some bitter taste for Thiemo

Thiemo has not managed to continue his good run at the ATP tourney of Chennai. Yen-Hsun Lu (ATP-82) from Taiwan defeated the Dutch qualifier 6-3, 6-3 in the first round on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Thiemo can be satisfied on his performance in India, including three wins in the qualifying tournament.

Missed chances
But still, Thiemo had the feeling he could have win the match. “I missed a lot of chances in the first set, that was crucial. My serve was not as good as in my previous matches”, sounded his comments afterwards. “I started to feel my body in the second set. Lu became the better player from that moment, while I was not able to turn things around.”

Melbourne
Thiemo travels right away to Melbourne and arrives on Wednesday morning (local time). He has exactly one week to prepare himself for the qualifiers of the Australian Open. Last year, Thiemo was very close to defeat Frenchman Gaël Monfis in the opening round of the first Grand Slam of the year. Monfils won after five sets.
