Thiemo into final and earns wild card

Thiemo has reached the final of the Dutch Tennis Masters for the second consecutive time. The 23-year old recorded a strong 6-1, 6-4 victory over second seed Igor Sijsling on Friday. He battles with Robin Haase for the title on Saturday. The victory gives Thiemo a wild card for the main draw of the ATP tournament in Rotterdam, because Haase already has qualified for this event.

The Haarlem resident had an excellent start. He put the pressure on Sijsling with powerful groundstrokes and services, including three aces in a row in the opening game of the match. Thiemo kept control of the match and forced a decisive break on 3-3 in the second set. ”It was a little bit better then yesterday, also because Igor has a good level. I am feeling really well. I just want to play a lot of matches.”

He looks forward to the final against Haase. “I think it going to be a nice match, especially for the crowd. He has had a very good and stable year and for me this is an excellent opportunity to look where I am if I play a guy from this level.
