Victory ends losing streak

Thiemo rallied past Boy Westerhof to reach the second round of the TEAN International in Alphen aan den Rijn on Wednesday. The 22-year old defeated the wildcard player and his compatriot in straight sets: 6-4, 6-3. This good result ends Thiemo’s negative streak of five consecutive losses.

The sixth-seeded Dutchman meets Evgeny Korolev (ATP-289) from Kazakhstan in the next round. It will be the third encounter between the players, with both winning once. Korolev won in Groningen in 2004, while Thiemo had the upper hand in New Haven last year.
