Anderson eliminates Dutch hope

Netherlands will stay in the Group 1 of the European-African zone of the Davis Cup. Kevin Anderson sealed South Africa’s decisive point after beating Robin Haase 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in Potchefstroom on Sunday. After this result, the teams decided to cancel the fifth and last match between Thomas Schoorel and Rik de Voest.

“(Kevin, red.) Anderson made the difference. He is just a class player. We thought we had a good chance, and now it is all over. It was an emotional rollercoaster”, according to Rohan Goetzke, technical director of the Dutch tennis association, to press agency ANP. Netherlands gets another Davis Cup chance in February 2012.
