South Africa-Netherlands locked at 1-1

No clear outcome after the first day in the Davis Cup tie between South Africa and the Netherlands on Friday (1-1). In Potchefstroom, Robin Haase put the Dutchmen up front after defeating Rik de Voest in four sets: 6-7, 6-3, 6-0, 6-4.

Kevin Anderson sealed South Africa’s equalizer by defeating Thomas Schoorel, who made his Davis Cup debut, in four sets as well: 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-1. The doubles match will be the main menu on Saturday. Igor Sijsling and Jesse Huta Galung take on Izak van der Merwe and Wesley Moodie from 12:00.

Thiemo made the journey to South Africa as well, but unfortunately team captain Jan Siemerink did not pick the 22-year old for his definitive squad.
