Difficult decision Thiemo on missing grass season

Thiemo has made a tough decision of skipping the grass season. He wants to use the coming period to regain physical and mental health. This means the Dutchman will not play the UNICEF Open (12-18 June) and Wimbledon (20 June-3 July).

The 22-year old emphasizes the difficulty of his decision, since he always plays with a lot of determination and fun in front of his home crowd. Also his Wimbledon absence is a personal disappointment. “I wanted to play those tournaments, but I have to be honest with myself. I cannot reach my own level during my matches and that frustrates”, told Thiemo in an interview with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

Fysiomed guides Thiemo in his recovery process the coming weeks. The company is specialized in working on the physical and mental strength of international top athletes. The Haarlem resident hopes this step gives him the right confidence for the second half of the season, including a possible return in the top fifty.

If selected, Thiemo stays available for the Davis Cup tie between South Africa and Netherlands in Potchefstroom (RSA) on 8, 9 and 10 July.
