Very tough draw Thiemo in opening round

Thiemo has one the toughest opening rounds of all players at Roland Garros. The Dutchman faces the so far unbeaten Novak Djokovic, according to the draw on Friday. The Serbian has recorded 37 consecutive wins in 2011 and has won seven tournaments.

Good experience
“There are easier draws! I am just going to enjoy this. I mean, where are his weak points?”, told Thiemo after hearing his opponent in the first round. “Hopefully I can show my best tennis and it is also another good experience as well. I need to serve well to get into the match, that will be important.”

“I know how to play in the big stadiums. Last year, I met (Jo-Wilfried) Tsonga here at the centre court. I also played Nadal in Monte Carlo, so I know the circumstances”, according to the Dutchman, who doesn’t have a favorite Grand Slam. “I like them all. Roland Garros has my favorite clay courts, but New York or Wimbledon is nice as well.”

The 22-year old is satisfied about his collaboration with Raemon Sluiter. They are working together since the Estoril Open in April. “I am happy he helps me, I learn a lot from him. You can see he has the experience of being a former pro player. He also corrects me when I need that, so I am happy with that. And sometimes we can laugh, but that doesn’t happen too much”, gave Thiemo a wink to his coach.
