Thiemo has lost the opening round of the Bath challenger on Wednesday. Jan Mertl of the Czech Republic defeated the Dutchman 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(5). “I started very bad, but my game became better and better.”

Thiemo will feature at the Bath challenger (€42,500) event next week. The 23-year old will meet Jan Mertl (ATP-249) in the opening round. The winner meets Kamil Capkovic from Slovakia or Frenchman Kenny de Schepper.
